Student answer (Band 5.5)

In some societies, obesity patient are increasing day by day because obesity is considered as a major issue. Some people argue that advertising of junk food is largely reason to blame for this problem and should be banned, while others think that junk food advertising does not contribute to the problem of obesity and government should not be banned it. This essay will discuss both views. I believe that advertising of junk food is the best way to popular people's businesses, but government should be banned to advertise different junk food stalls because it can reduce the risk of obesity disease.

To begin with, junk food advertising can contribute to popular of small and big businesses. This is because in this modern era everyone use social media platforms, and businessman's of junk food can post their advertises with location and menus on social media. For example, businessman post their advertises on social media apps, and they upload different pictures and videos for advertising of junk food, people watch the videos and they order quickly. But they do not know harms of their food. As a result, the usage of junk food is a major reason to create obesity disease.

On the other hand, some people feel that junk food advertising does not contribute to the problem of obesity and they say that it should not banned. This is particularly important because advertising of junk food can help people to find right location and menu of different fast food in short time. For instance, if restaurants advertise to their food on social media, people will be able to access better restaurants in minimum time. Consequently, people can find the good quality of food for guests and family members.

In conclusion, fast food advertising is crucial to convenient for customers that can search easily on social media, government should focus on workers who check restaurants for cleaning and the quality of material that use in fast food. A balanced approach can therefore provide the benefits of junk food, while ensuring the access of delivery facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on junk food advertising and providing a personal opinion, earning it a clear mid-level standing. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack full elaboration. For instance, the discussion on how advertising helps businesses is somewhat repetitive and focuses heavily on social media apps rather than exploring broader economic or public health arguments. The writer's position is present—stating that advertising is useful for businesses but should be banned to reduce obesity—though the conclusion introduces a shift towards focusing on restaurant cleanliness and food quality rather than maintaining the stance on a complete advertising ban. To reach the next level, the ideas would need to be more fully extended and supported with clearer reasoning throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at logical organisation, making use of standard introductory, body, and concluding paragraphs. Each paragraph has a clear focus, such as discussing the commercial benefits of advertising in the second body paragraph and the convenience of finding restaurants in the third. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. The writer relies on basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'On the other hand', and referencing can occasionally be unclear, such as the ambiguous use of pronouns like 'they' and 'their'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate the distinct arguments, but the progression of ideas within paragraphs could be smoother and better connected to ensure a more natural flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer demonstrates an attempt to use less common items and topic-related vocabulary, such as 'obesity disease', 'social media platforms', and 'balanced approach', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and collocation. Examples include writing 'obesity patient are increasing' instead of patients, 'businessman's of junk food' instead of businessmen, and 'popular people's businesses' instead of popularise or promote. Spelling and word choice errors, such as 'advertises' instead of advertisements and 'banned it' instead of banning it, occur frequently and occasionally cause some difficulty or strain for the reader, preventing the response from achieving a higher vocabulary score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside some attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar, articles, plurals, and prepositions that can cause difficulty for the reader. For example, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage in phrases like 'government should be banned to advertise' and 'find the good quality of food'. Punctuation is basic, and sentence boundaries are occasionally obscured by run-on structures or missing prepositions, such as 'advertise to their food'. While the meaning can generally be understood, the high frequency of grammatical inaccuracies across basic and complex patterns keeps the score at this level.
