Student answer (Band 5.0)
In certain societies, obesity is considered as a huge issue. Few individuals argue that unhealthy food advertising is containing a big impact for this problem and should be banned. But others feel that unhealthy food advertising does not provide the problem of obesity and should not be banned. In this essay, I will describe both points and give my opinion.
To begin with, some people believe that advertising should be banned because mostly people are trying to eat something unhealthy. The main reason is that advertising companies are targeting innocent children because children usually notice the colourful ads and celebrities. It will become an unhealthy society. That's why society would in hospitals.
Secondly, others believe that advertising is not a problem because they think that it depends on humans. For instance, if a human know that which one thing is better for me then they will never touch the wrong items. People think that governments should build an exercise area in every town because most of individuals have never taken an excercise regularly.
From my perspective, it depends on the person which item is necessary for his body, then he will definatly earn the right item and take an excercise daily.
To conclude, the government should provide a healthy diet for every person that is much needed for him.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on junk food advertising and providing an opinion, but the development of ideas is limited and surface-level. For instance, the discussion on why advertising targets children ('children usually notice the colourful ads') is underdeveloped and does not fully explain how this directly leads to obesity. Furthermore, the position is not always clearly maintained or supported with strong examples, and the conclusion introduces a new point about governments providing healthy diets rather than summarising the main arguments. Additionally, it must be noted that the response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, as it contains only 219 words. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to expand on their arguments with detailed explanations and ensure full coverage of the word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation in the essay, with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, and the use of transitional markers like 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'To conclude'. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression between ideas, and the logical flow is sometimes disrupted by abrupt shifts in topic, such as the sudden pivot to building exercise areas. Referencing and cohesive devices are occasionally inadequate or repetitive, which hinders the overall cohesion. To improve, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more accurately and ensure that each paragraph transitions smoothly into the next, maintaining a clear line of argument throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The lexical resource displayed is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple terms like 'huge issue', 'unhealthy food', and 'bad items'. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'is containing a big impact' instead of 'has a major impact', and 'earn the right item' instead of 'choose the right food'. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the student must expand their vocabulary range by incorporating less common lexical items and precise collocations related to health and advertising, while paying closer attention to accurate word choice and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer uses a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside some attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are numerous grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb forms and tenses ('if a human know', 'definatly earn'), articles ('in hospitals' instead of 'in the hospital'), and prepositions. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader and sometimes obscure the intended meaning. To improve grammatical performance, the writer needs to practice forming complex sentence structures with greater accuracy, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, and review basic verb tense consistency and article usage.
