Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, in many societies, obesity is regarded as as major problem. Some people believe that junk food advertising is largly to blame for this problem and should be banned. However, others feel that junk food advertising does not contribute to the problem of obesity and should not be blammed. I will describe both views in further passages and conclude with my own opinion.
In today's life people use more online platform and read advertisement of junk food and try the food in restraunt or any other places. Advertisement is a good thing to expand junk food buisness and atract more people. In today's generation people eat junk food more than any other food. Some people believe that most diseases are come from junk food and the mots responsible thing is the advertisement that's why people belive that advertising is largly to blame for this problem and should be blamed. For example, owner of restraunt make a reel and post it on instagram which is most use online platform, after seeing the advertisement people go there and try another food and encourage others too.
Others believe that junk food can harm our body so avoid that food and eat only protins. Advertisement is a good way to connect withpeople so it should not be banned. Ithink that is is a personal choice to eat junk food or not.
In conclusion, I would like to say that as I said before it is a personal choice to avoid it or not. People are just blame on advertisement but in my opinion it doesn't happend because of advertisement.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the prompt only partially, which places it at this level. While both views regarding junk food advertising are mentioned, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on why advertising should be banned briefly touches on social media reels, but lacks depth and detailed examples. Similarly, the alternative view that people should eat proteins instead of junk food is overly simplistic. The student does provide a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion, but the overall position lacks robust support and extension. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to expand their arguments more fully, offering well-developed explanations and specific real-world examples for both perspectives rather than relying on brief, repetitive assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation present, with distinct paragraphs separating the introduction, body viewpoints, and conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the logical flow is hindered by repetitive statements, such as repeatedly asserting that eating junk food is 'a personal choice' in the final sections. Cohesive devices are used rather inadequately and repetitively, for example, starting multiple sentences with phrases like 'In today's life' or 'Some people believe'. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks smooth transitions. To achieve a higher score, the writer must ensure a more logical sequencing of ideas, employ a wider and more accurate range of cohesive ties, and avoid circular arguments that disrupt the progression of the essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with frequent errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling. Examples of spelling and word-form issues include 'largly', 'blammed', 'buisness', 'atract', 'restraunt', and 'mots'. The range of vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on everyday words like 'food', 'people', and 'advertising'. Attempts to use less common items result in awkward phrasing, such as 'diseases are come from junk food'. These noticeable errors sometimes cause difficulty for the reader. To improve lexical resource, the student should expand their working vocabulary to include precise topic-specific terminology related to health and marketing, pay closer attention to spelling rules, and practise standard collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few awkward attempts at complex structures. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response, including issues with articles ('as as major problem'), subject-verb agreement ('most diseases are come'), and prepositional use. Punctuation and sentence boundaries also show instability, leading to run-on structures like 'Owner of restraunt make a reel and post it on instagram which is most use online platform, after seeing the advertisement people go there...'. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to develop better control over complex sentence patterns, ensure correct verb forms and tense consistency, and eliminate basic agreement and article errors.
