You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience·and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence. Write at least 250 words.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Obesity is a term used for people who are overweight, the cause can be anything whether its unhealthy eating habits or no exercise. while junk food it has its own consequences some people still cant live without it.
I totally beleive it depends on the physique of the person, we have seen people eating alot cant gain weight and some with drinking water or healthy food are gaining weight day by day.
Some people agree with the opinion of the junk food being the only cause of being obese and want to ban the advertisements, while others think its not the issue.
I am with the idea that only eating junk cannot be the issue for being over weight, as there are alot of other factors contributing to being unhealthy. In USA , people mostly are obese, and it cant be only junk food, it is the environment, the laziness, no exercising after meals or taking meals at improper times.
Furthermore just banning the advertisments is not the solution as may companies get rofit with these ads, and if we stop them it will be a huge mess.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the task only partially, presenting some ideas about obesity and advertising, but these remain limited and under-developed. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the text contains only 188 words, which falls short of the 250-word minimum. The student does attempt to discuss both views and gives a personal opinion, stating that 'only eating junk cannot be the issue for being over weight,' but the arguments lack sufficient elaboration, evidence, and structure. To move to a higher band, the writer must fully develop all parts of the prompt with extended explanations, relevant examples, and ensure the word count requirement is satisfied.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some basic organisation with distinct paragraph breaks, but the response lacks clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are minimal, inadequate, or repetitive, making the flow somewhat disjointed. For instance, sentences like 'while junk food it has its own consequences some people still cant live without it' lack proper transitions and clear logical relationships to connect ideas smoothly. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as ambiguous pronoun use. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to logically sequence ideas, employ a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices to link sentences and paragraphs, and ensure a clear progression of thought throughout the entire essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some topic-related vocabulary such as 'obesity', 'unhealthy eating habits', and 'advertisements', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include 'beleive' instead of believe, 'alot' instead of a lot, 'rofit' instead of profit, and awkward phrases like 'drinking water or healthy food are gaining weight'. To improve lexical resource and reach a higher band, the student should expand their vocabulary range, incorporate less common lexical items with greater precision in collocation and style, and carefully check spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors. Attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, such as run-on constructions and punctuation errors, including 'Obesity is a term used for people who are overweight, the cause can be anything whether its unhealthy eating habits or no exercise.' Frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, and missing apostrophes (e.g., 'cant', 'companies get rofit') are present throughout the text and can cause difficulty for the reader. To progress to a higher band, the writer must use a wider variety of complex grammatical structures with increased accuracy and ensure better control over basic sentence boundaries and punctuation.
