Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You introduce the topic and attempt to discuss both positions, including the concern that advertising encourages people to try new foods and the counterargument that individuals should choose healthier options. However, the task is only partially addressed: your own position is unclear because you say the view is “logically sound” but also “partily agree,” without specifying which side you support. The arguments are brief and not sufficiently explained. For example, the claim that businesses would “come on road” if advertising were banned needs a clearer link to why a ban is unjustified, while the survey and headline are not explained or connected convincingly to obesity. Develop each side with relevant reasoning and state your opinion consistently. The response meets the stated length requirement; 24 words copied from the prompt were excluded from the count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, paragraphs signposted as agreement and disagreement, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the intended stages of the discussion. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and some links are mechanical or unclear. Phrases such as “To commance with agreement” and “Shifting toward with disagreement” announce a change but do not create a clear relationship between the ideas. The conclusion introduces the claim that advertisements “level the food” without explaining how it follows from the earlier points. Improve cohesion by organising each paragraph around one main claim, then explaining and illustrating it, and use clear references and transitions to connect the reasoning rather than relying mainly on signposting phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “obesity,” “advertising,” “demand,” and “healthy and fresh food,” so the general subject is usually identifiable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “new tranding food,” “food's sell,” “705 people aware for their health,” and “level the food”; these do not express the intended ideas clearly. Spelling errors such as “advertisment,” “busniesses,” and “ingedients” also reduce precision. Build a more reliable set of topic-specific phrases and check word forms and collocations. For instance, describe advertising as “increasing demand” and explain that labels “list the ingredients,” rather than using unclear wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “While others…” and a conditional idea beginning “If government…”. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include missing articles in “obesity is major problem,” missing passive forms in “should banned,” and faulty verb patterns in “human being's habit to attracted.” The sentence “My views regarding the statement greater extent” is incomplete, while “If government will banned…” has an incorrect conditional structure. Punctuation also needs attention, particularly the comma splice after “modern era” and missing spaces after full stops. Practise accurate sentence patterns first, then combine them to express contrasts and conditions clearly.
