Student answer (Band 5.5)
Junk food is creating major issue on people's health . Often consumption of junk food causes hingh bood pressure , low energy , lack of minerals and nutrients and much more . However , society still consumes these food items without worring about long time effect of it .
Firstly , obesity is a major problem caused by junk food . People believe that intake of junk food is high as the marketing and branding done by food brands . However , its partially true because when food advertisment is shown on whatever platform , human nature is tricked by tempeting adds and thus ,we order the food . Brands do dvertising to attract customers . But it's on us , if we want to buy the junk food or not .Brands can not stop advertising their food products but what they can do is , decrease the branding by less advertisement .
Further , from a food brands perspective , it's their way of marketing and attracting customers to try their food . Advertising will not force people to buy and eat junk food , but makes them see the wide range of products .when the advertisments will be banned it will not stop people from consuming junk food . Banning of junk food advertising would not effect much in loss of junk food brands as many junk food chains already has their customer , for example; mcdonals , dominos , chipotle ,trader joes ...and many more .
To conclude , obesity is not only caused by the consumption of junk food but also due to not regular exercising and not enough movement of the body . Banning advertisment will not help people to come out of obesity .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the topic and give a discernible view: you argue that advertising can influence choices, but that banning it would not solve obesity, which also relates to exercise. You also refer to the perspective of food brands. However, the discussion is only partial: the case for banning advertising is not developed, and the opposing view is mostly asserted rather than supported. For example, “human nature is tricked” suggests an influence but does not explain how advertising changes eating habits or provide evidence. The examples of established chains show that they have customers, but do not clearly demonstrate that advertising has no effect. Develop both sides with specific reasoning and make your position explicit throughout, rather than relying mainly on the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Further” and “To conclude” help identify stages of the discussion. However, progression within and between paragraphs is not consistently clear. The first body paragraph moves from advertising’s influence to personal responsibility and then to reducing advertising, without explaining how these points fit together. The second paragraph shifts from brands’ marketing interests to whether a ban would affect consumption and then to brand losses. Some linking phrases are mechanical, and references such as “these food items” and “it” are not always precise. Group each paragraph around one clear argument and use explicit links to show how each example supports it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “obesity,” “consumption,” “marketing,” “branding” and “advertising,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems make the writing less precise. Phrases such as “creating major issue,” “long time effect” and “wide range of products” do not express the intended ideas naturally in context. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “advertisment,” “tempeting” and “dvertising,” which can distract the reader. Aim to use accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe advertising as “influencing food choices” rather than saying people are “tricked” by it. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish influence, responsibility and consumption.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few complex structures, including “when food advertisment is shown … human nature is tricked” and “when the advertisments will be banned,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “Junk food is creating major issue” is missing an article, while “many junk food chains already has their customer” has problems with subject–verb agreement and number. Several sentences also contain awkward comma placement or run-on punctuation, such as the sentence beginning “Brands can not stop advertising.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each sentence for a clear subject, verb and punctuation.
