Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, obesity has became a very popular topic among many socities. There is a group of individuals who believe that fast food is the leading factor of obesity in many socities while the other group deny it.I believe that fast food may cause it but it is not the main cause of fatness in a nation.
If we look at the main causes of fatness we will come to know that there are several causes of it but the major problem has always been unhealthy food, lack of exercise, irragular diet plan and life style. Lack of exercise can pose a serious threat to health because if someone is taking healthy food and not doing suitable exercise than they become fatty. Moreover, if exercise is the focus of someone's life without proper balanced healthy diet then it can also lead to obesity. Another possible cause of obesity is life style, if someone is doing regular exercise and balanced diet and still becoming fat, than it is because of difference in the amount of exercise, e.g more protien or starch in meal and lack of proper nutrition.
On the other hand, if someone is consuming fast food more than a limit without any particular guide and meal planning, than it can become a serious reason of being to fatty. Burgers, Pizzas and other items like them mostly have more content of oil and ingridients that are mostly not the part of our daily meal, their consumption in body contribute to fatness.
Ultimately, fast food is not the main reason of obesity but it is a reson. It should not be banned completely but the people must use it in a limit. They must be aware of their life style, diet plans and exercise schedule to live a healthy life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear overall view: fast food can contribute to obesity, but it is not the main cause and should not be banned completely. You also discuss other factors, including exercise and diet, and provide examples such as burgers and pizzas. However, the task asks you to discuss both views about advertising, whereas most of your response discusses fast food itself and general causes of obesity. The argument that advertising does not contribute is not explained, and the case for banning advertising is barely addressed. To strengthen the response, explain how advertising might influence food choices, then present the opposing view and support your own position with relevant examples. Some ideas, particularly the lifestyle explanation, are unclear or insufficiently developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on general causes, a contrasting paragraph about fast food, and a conclusion. Connectors such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “Ultimately” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is not consistently clear because the discussion moves from advertising to obesity causes without explaining the connection. Some sentences also combine several points, making the reasoning difficult to follow; for example, the sentence beginning “Another possible cause of obesity is life style” shifts into exercise, diet, and nutrition without a clear sequence. Develop one main point at a time, use paragraphing to address each view, and make references such as “it” and “them” more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “obesity,” “balanced healthy diet,” “consumption,” and “nutrition,” and the reader can generally understand your main position. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. “Fatness” is used repeatedly where “obesity” would be more appropriate, while “become fatty” and “being to fatty” are unnatural. There are also spelling errors such as “socities,” “irragular,” “protien,” and “ingridients.” Aim for more precise vocabulary about advertising and consumer behaviour, such as “promote,” “influence purchasing choices,” and “high-calorie foods.” Check spelling and learn common word combinations as complete phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if someone is taking healthy food…” and a contrast introduced by “while.” However, errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction, and some make the reasoning harder to follow. For example, “obesity has became” should use the past participle after “has,” and “the other group deny it” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The long sentence beginning “Another possible cause…” also joins ideas in a confusing way. Practise accurate present and past participles, singular/plural agreement, and sentence boundaries. Shorter, carefully controlled sentences would help you express your complex ideas more clearly.
