Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You identify the two stated positions and mention relevant factors such as busy schedules and limited exercise, so the response has some connection to the topic. However, the discussion does not adequately explain either view: the reasons given mostly describe causes of obesity, rather than showing how advertising is or is not responsible. Your own opinion is also not clearly stated, and the conclusion repeats points without resolving the debate. The response contains 227 words, below the required 250; the 44 words copied from the prompt are not counted. To improve, explain how advertising can influence food choices, present a reason why it may have little effect, and state your position clearly with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening introduces the opposing views, body sections discuss reasons, and a conclusion is included. Linking phrases such as “on the one hand,” “on the other hand,” and “in conclusion” help signal the intended structure. However, progression is difficult to follow because the paragraphs do not consistently develop the two views in the question, and several ideas are repeated, especially busy work schedules and lack of exercise. Some sentences run together, while the shift from the first view to the second is not supported by a clear explanation. Use one paragraph for each view, connect each reason directly to advertising, and make the conclusion follow from your stated opinion.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “junk food advertising,” “obesity,” “physical activities,” and “daily diet,” which makes the general subject recognisable. There are also attempts to express cause and effect, such as “the primary reason” and “this is because.” However, vocabulary is often repetitive or inaccurately chosen, and several phrases make the meaning unclear, for example “over weight is regarding major problem” and “physical performance.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “reeason,” “deit,” and “focuss” also reduce control. Build a more precise range for discussing advertising and food choices, and check collocations and spelling; for instance, use “is considered a major problem” and “physical activity.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some longer sentences using connectors such as “because,” “so that,” and “which,” showing an effort to combine ideas rather than relying only on short statements. However, sentence structures are frequently inaccurate, and errors often make relationships between ideas hard to understand. Examples include “most of people busy in their work,” “they have not enough time for cooked proper meal,” and “people feel easy for ordered junk food.” There are also problems with sentence boundaries and capitalization, such as starting sentences with lowercase “on” and joining several clauses without clear punctuation. Practise accurate subject–verb patterns, articles, verb forms after prepositions, and sentence punctuation before attempting longer constructions.
