Student answer (Band 5.5)

Obesity is one of the leading problems in the contemporary world. Some individuals blame fast food and its advertisement, while other argue that advertisement and fast food can never be the issue if one has self-control. From my perspective, fast food advertisements trigger people to comsume fast food. However, individual is solely responsible for his own health.

Firstly, junk food advertisements such as tv ads, food postures contribute to the consumption of food. Food looks so appealing that people with low self-control find it hard to resist and it results in consumption of such food. Additionally, such advertisements attract younger children and teenagers which worsen the situation as young ones are not competent to resist. Moreover, it leads to financial and mental stress to adults as they understand the consequences of comsuming such food but unable to stop their chuldren. Futhermore, junk food does not have any nutriental value, thus provide any nutrients to body which results in lack if physical activities. For instance- my cousin loves junk food and he barely have any physical activity other than walking for 5-10 mins.

On contrast, Soley advertisements donot contiribute to obesity. Advertisement is vital to business. It is individual's decision to make a wise decision and propriatise his health. There are many advertisements that people watch but how these advertisements affects them, it depends in individual. One should have self-control and obession for good health.

To sum up, advertisements affect people mind. However, advertisement soley are not to blame. If one have self-control and healthly mindset, no advertisment can lead him to have junk food.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a recognisable position: advertising can influence consumption, but individuals remain responsible for their health. The first body paragraph gives relevant reasons, including children’s difficulty resisting appealing adverts, and the conclusion restates your view. However, the discussion is uneven. The case for banning advertising is supported with several points, while the opposing view is mostly asserted through “Advertisement is vital to business” and the claim that people should exercise self-control. The link between junk food’s nutritional value and “lack of physical activities” is also unclear. Develop both sides more evenly and explain how your examples support the argument about obesity, rather than consumption alone.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall shape: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding summary. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Additionally,” “Moreover,” and “To sum up” help readers follow the progression, and the main position is broadly consistent. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, the repeated additive transitions make the first paragraph feel like a list, and “On contrast” does not clearly signal the relationship between the views. Some links between ideas are also difficult to follow, particularly the move from nutritional value to physical activity. Use fewer formulaic connectors and build clearer cause-and-effect links within each paragraph.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “self-control,” “consequences,” “consumption,” and “advertisements,” so the reader can understand the central discussion. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “comsume,” “postures” for posters, “nutriental,” “contiribute,” and “obession.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, such as “obession for good health” and “advertisements affect people mind.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning, which is consistent with this level. Build a more accurate set of collocations for discussing advertising and health, and proofread carefully for spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if one has self-control” and a relative clause in “which worsen the situation.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors occur often enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to process. Examples include “other argue,” “individual is solely responsible,” “it results in consumption,” and “If one have self-control”; these show problems with agreement, articles, and verb forms. The sentence about adults understanding the consequences but being unable to stop their children is also incomplete in its construction. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete clause structure, then reread each sentence to ensure its grammar expresses the intended relationship.
