Student answer (Band 4.0)

In some societies, obesity is a major problem but some feel that junk food advertising does not contribute to the problem of obesity and they said it should not be banned. These views are against each other but there is a problem some people don't eat like junk food they said it is unhealty. But new generation likes junk food beacuse they said it has a good taste rather than homemade food that is made by pure and healty ingredients. But there is major problem is not food problem is about taste. New generation likes junkfood and they are mostly prefer junkfood. so if people think junk food advertising is largely to blame for this problem and should be banned I think its wrong. Because people have thier on choices it doesn't matter what they prefer for eats junkfood or healty food. I agree we do not eat junk food again and again or in daily life. But the people are educated they know about thier health that what things are healthy for thier health but it doesn't mean we should banned the junkfood advertising. Becuse in the most cases people prefer taste and those things whose made they enjoy. so why people do not eat junkfood? I like junkfood so i prefer or about my opinion the obesity is a problem but banned of junkfood advertising is not a solution. so that arguments i closed in some letter that are we should not banned advertising of junkfood. so i agree with advertising of junkfood.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You give a clear overall opinion: advertising should not be banned, and you briefly acknowledge the view that it may be blamed for obesity. However, the discussion of both sides is very limited. The claim that younger people choose junk food for its taste is relevant, but it does not explain the case for banning advertising or provide supporting examples or evidence. Your own position is repeated rather than developed. The response contains 227 words, below the 250-word minimum; 28 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen the response, explain how advertising might influence eating habits, then weigh this against personal choice and other causes of obesity, using specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.0

There is a basic line of thought: you introduce the disagreement, discuss taste and personal choice, and conclude that advertising should not be banned. Some linking words, such as “but,” “because,” and “so,” help show connections. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the two views and your opinion are not clearly separated. Ideas also circle back to the same point—for example, that people prefer junk food for its taste—without progressing to a new supporting reason. Some links are difficult to follow, particularly “so why people do not eat junkfood?” and “so that arguments i closed in some letter.” Use separate paragraphs for each view and your conclusion, and connect each reason to its explanation or example.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general subject, including “obesity,” “junk food advertising,” “healthy ingredients,” and “personal choices.” This shows some ability to discuss the issue, but the range is narrow and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “junk food” and “prefer.” Some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “they said” when referring to what people think, “good taste,” and “banned of junkfood advertising.” Spelling errors, including “unhealty,” “beacuse,” and “thier,” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise expressions for causes and effects, such as “influence purchasing habits” or “contribute to weight gain,” and check spelling and collocations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences linked with “but,” “because,” and “that,” so there is some variety in sentence construction. The main position is generally understandable, but errors occur across the response and sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “there is major problem is not food problem” has faulty clause structure, while “they are mostly prefer junkfood” combines incompatible verb forms. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “we should banned” and the inconsistent capitalisation of “I.” Practise forming clear subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses accurately. Proofread for verb forms, sentence boundaries, and capital letters.
