Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You touch on both views: the opening mentions people who blame advertising and others who oppose a ban, and your own view is that junk food can be eaten occasionally but should not be consumed regularly. The personal account of becoming addicted to fast food while living in a college hostel gives a relevant example. However, the discussion is only partial: you do not explain how advertising might influence people’s choices, nor develop the argument against banning it. Your opinion is also not clearly stated in relation to the proposed ban; the response focuses more on limiting consumption than on whether advertising should be prohibited. Develop each side with a reason and example, then state directly whether you support a ban and why.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic overall sequence: you introduce the two positions, then give your personal view and experience. The hostel example also provides a recognisable link to your advice about eating healthily. However, the response is not divided into clear paragraphs, and the first section combines several ideas in a long, difficult-to-follow sequence. Connections such as “but on the other side” signal contrast, but the opposing view is not then explained. Repeated phrases such as “too much use” and “junk food” make progression feel circular. Use separate paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and connect each reason to its explanation with clear referencing and transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Your vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on “junk food,” “health problems,” and “too much.” You do communicate the central topic and use some relevant examples, including “cold drinks, burger, pizza” and “home made food.” However, frequent spelling and word-choice errors—such as “individul,” “juck,” “addicted,” and “healthy”—make parts of the response harder to read, while phrases such as “different stage of health problems” are unclear. Build a more precise range for discussing causes and policy, and check spelling and collocations. For example, you could describe advertising as “promoting unhealthy products” and explain that it may “influence consumer choices.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to express contrast and cause, for example with “but on the other side” and “may cause,” and the personal account gives the response some sentence variety. However, sentence structures are very limited overall, and frequent errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms sometimes obscure meaning. The opening runs several clauses together without reliable punctuation; “there is a major problems” has an agreement error, and “junk food may cause of different stage” shows an inaccurate grammatical pattern. There are also repeated forms such as “junk is is” and “we can use use.” Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them accurately using conjunctions and check agreement and punctuation.
