Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You introduce the topic and state a clear opinion: “I completely agree” that advertising is not the primary cause of obesity. You also begin to explain the view that advertising encourages consumption, linking promotions aimed at young people with excess calorie intake. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the opposing view is not fully explained, and your own position receives only a brief, unfinished explanation about obesity as a medical condition. The final sentence cuts off, and there is no developed conclusion or supporting evidence. The required minimum of 250 words is not met; this leaves too little space to discuss both views and support your opinion. Develop each side with a specific example and complete the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, with “On one side” introducing the argument about advertising and “On the other hand” signalling a contrast. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression is limited because the second paragraph ends mid-sentence, and the ideas are not brought together in a conclusion. Some links between claims are also unclear: the move from advertising to young people’s calorie intake is understandable, but the explanation of how this leads to obesity needs a clearer sequence. Use topic sentences, develop one point at a time, and add linking phrases that show cause and contrast accurately. A complete final paragraph would help the argument feel finished.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “advertising,” “excess calories,” and “medical condition,” and some choices convey the general subject clearly. However, the range is limited and several spelling or word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “Junck,” “attact,” “syndrom,” and “imblance.” Phrases such as “vital issue in maximum communities” and “Food companies use different types of method” are also unnatural or imprecise. Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than more complicated wording: for example, “a serious problem in many societies” and “use various methods to promote unhealthy food.” Proofread spelling and choose vocabulary that expresses your intended meaning precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use some simple sentences and attempt longer structures, including “although some individuals argue that dissemination is not the cause.” The basic meaning is often recoverable, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently. For example, “Obesity is considered as” uses an unnecessary preposition, while “Food companies use different types of method” has a number-agreement problem. The sentence beginning “From the scientific evidence” is incomplete, and the final clause is cut off, so the reader cannot follow the intended grammatical structure. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, plurals, and sentence endings. Short, accurate sentences would improve clarity before you add more complex forms.
