Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is widely argued that, obesity is a major problem and junk food advertising is one of the major reason behind it and this type of advertisement should be banned whereas, other people belief that junk food advertisement is not the problem behind obesity thus, there is not reason to stop it.
This essay will examine both views before arguing that junk food advertising should be banned to reduce obesity because this type of advertisement lure more people to consume junk food and they often hide the truth to sell more product.
There are some truth about the view that junk food advertising does not contribute to the problem of obesity and should not be banned. First of all, it is the individuals responsibility to stay fit and healthy by controlling a proper diet and if a person is determined about what should he eat and avoide, these advertisements can not force you to eat junk food. In addition, advertisements are necessary for promoting new food items and restaurents and it helps people to decide what to eat and where to dine. However, the problem is how they present their products infront of people and how it is negetively affecting people mindsets.
Advertisements are often linked with people's way of thought. These promotions lure consumers to buy products even if they do not need them and make them think that their products will uplift their mood and lifestyle. People buy things unconciously without even knowing what are the downsides of consuming this products. Similar things happen with junk food advertisements as it presents food item look appealing and easy to eat. They promote that you can buy and eat, you do not have to cook. This lifestyle is on of the biggest reason of obesity as no one has to do physical labour. They are not just selling junk food, they are changing people's lifestyle to sell more products in the future.
In conclusion, promoting junk food should be banned to stop obesity and rulling over people's mind to buy their products without revealing the downsides of their products.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear position: you acknowledge individual responsibility and the value of advertising, then argue that junk-food promotion should be banned. Your explanation that adverts make products appealing and encourage convenient eating is relevant, and the point about companies hiding drawbacks supports your stance. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The case against a ban is mainly asserted through personal choice and advertising’s role in informing consumers, without a concrete example or fuller explanation. The link between convenience, reduced physical activity and obesity also needs clearer support; the claim that people do no physical labour is too broad. Develop each argument with a specific example or evidence and explain the causal link more carefully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction presents the debate and your position, separate body paragraphs discuss the opposing view and your argument, and a conclusion restates your opinion. Connectors such as “First of all,” “In addition,” and “However” help signal relationships between ideas. At times, though, cohesion is mechanical or the links are unclear. For example, “However, the problem is how they present their products” shifts from the benefits of advertising to its harms without fully explaining the contrast. The third paragraph also moves from impulse buying to convenience and then physical labour in quick succession. Use clearer topic sentences and add linking explanations so each point follows logically from the previous one.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “individuals responsibility,” “controlling a proper diet,” “lure consumers,” “downsides,” and “lifestyle.” These choices help communicate your main ideas, and some less common expressions show an attempt to discuss persuasion and consumer behaviour. However, word choice, collocation and spelling are often inaccurate, as in “belief,” “restaurents,” “negetively,” “unconciously,” and “rulling over people's mind.” Phrases such as “controlling a proper diet” and “physical labour” are also imprecise in context. These errors do not prevent understanding, but they reduce naturalness and precision. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations, such as “maintain a balanced diet” and “influence consumers’ choices.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures (“if a person is determined…”) and clauses introduced by “because” and “even if.” This gives the response some variety, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, some errors in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence construction remain. For example, “There are some truth” should use a plural noun, while “it presents food item look appealing” has an unclear clause structure. In “what should he eat,” the word order is not appropriate for an indirect question, and “they do not need them and make them think” has an unclear reference. Review agreement and article use, and simplify or restructure complex sentences to make relationships between clauses accurate.
