Student answer (Band 5.5)

PEOPLE ARE LIVING IN THIS PLANET FOR AGES.THERE ARE VARIETY OF DISEASE WHICH PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM MANY YEARS.BUT NOW IN MODERN DAYS THERE ARE LOT OF MEDICAL PROBLEMS ARE CREATED FOR HUMANS LIKE BLOOD PRESSURE,SUGAR LEVEL AND WE SAY OBESITY.THESE THREE DISESE IS MAINLY BECAUSE OF OUR DIET AND EXERCISE.

NOW MAINLY IAM TALKING ABOUT THE OBESITY WHICH IS THE MOST COMMON PROBLEM OF OUR SOCIETY.ALMOST 1/4 PEEAPLE ARE FACING THIS.

SOME PEOPLE THINK OBESITY IS TOTALLY BECAUSE OF JUNK FOOD AND THEY THINK IF WE HAVE TO CONTROL ON OBESITY WE SHOULD BANNED FAST FOOD ACROSS THE COUTRY OR WORLD.THEY THINK JUNK FOOD IS TOTALLY MADE UP OF BREAD WHICH IS NOT GOOD FOR HEALTH AND IT CAUSING PROBLEM FOR OUR HEALTH WHICH LEAD TO OBESITY.FOR EXAMPLE LATEST MEDICAL RESEARCH SHOW THAT THESE JUNK FOOD LEAD TO MANY HEALTH PROBLEMS LIKE OBESITY,STOMACH PROBLEMS AND ALSO CONTISIPTION.SO ALL ABOUT THIS WE CAN SAY THAT JUNK FOOD IS NOT GOOD FOR HEALTH ESPECIALLY IF WE ARE TAKING IT REGULARLY.

NOW SOME PEOPLE THINK JUNK FOOD DO NOT CAUSE ANY PROBLEM OF OBESITY AND IT SHOULD NOT BE BANNED.THEY THINK JUNK FOOD IS NOT THE BIG CAUSE OF OBESITY.THEY THINK OUR HEALTH IS NOT GOOD IF WE ARE NOT TAKING DIET PROPERLY AND IT HAVE VERY NEGATIVE EFFECT ON OUR BODY.FOR EXAMPLE LATEST RESEARCH SHOWS THAT IF WE ARE NOT DOING EXERICE REGULARLY IT WILL CAUSE US TO OBESITY AND I SAY THERE POINT IS SO VALID.LIKE JUNK FOOD EXIST IN OUR SOCIETIES MORE THAN 20 YEARS BUT PEOPLE IN THE PAST NOT TAKING IT ON DAILY BASIS BUT OFTEN A WEEK OR A MONTH.BUT NOW PEOPLE ARE SO MUCH OBSSESED ABOUT THIS.

IN MY OPINION I WOULD SAY THAT JUNK FOOD SHOULD NOT BE BANNED BUT ITS USE SHOULD BE LIMITED.PEOPLE SHOULD BE AWARE OF DISADVANTAGES OF EATING IT REGULARLY ALSO FOOD AUTHORITIES SHOULD BE VERY STRICT ON THIS MATTER WHEATHER THEY ARE USING GOOD QUALILTY PRODUCTS OR NOT.AND IN SCHOOL OR COLLEGE TEACHERS SHOULD BE GIVING SOME LECTURE ON THIS AND AFTER ALL OF THIS OBESITY CAN BE CONTROLLED THIS WAY.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You discuss both positions and give a clear personal view: you reject a complete ban but support limiting junk food and educating people. The points about regular consumption, exercise, and food oversight are relevant, and the example contrasting past and present eating habits helps explain the opposing view. However, some claims are asserted rather than developed—for instance, the reference to “latest medical research” gives no specific evidence, and the argument that junk food is “totally made up of bread” is unclear and oversimplified. Your conclusion offers several measures, but their likely effectiveness is not explained. Develop each side with more precise reasoning and a concrete example, and clarify how advertising itself may influence people’s choices, since this is central to the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. This makes the discussion easy to follow at a broad level. You also use signposts such as “Some people think,” “Now,” and “In my opinion” to show shifts between ideas. However, these transitions are often mechanical, and several points within paragraphs are joined by repeated “and” or “they think,” so the relationships between claims are not always clear. The opening also spends time listing diseases before reaching the topic. Use clearer topic sentences, group related reasons together, and vary linking expressions. More precise referencing—for example, specifying what “this” refers to—would make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “obesity,” “junk food,” “diet,” “exercise,” “banned,” and “disadvantages.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “regularly” and “food authorities.” However, the range is limited and several choices or spellings make the message less clear, including “totally made up of bread,” “obsessed about this,” and “contisipation.” Repetition of “people think” and “problem” also reduces precision. Build a more accurate set of collocations for this topic, such as “contribute to weight gain,” “advertising influences consumer choices,” and “a balanced diet.” Check spelling and choose words that express the intended meaning precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons and examples, so there is some variety in sentence structure. The main ideas can generally be understood, but grammatical control is inconsistent. For example, “There are variety of disease” needs an article and plural agreement, while “it have very negative effect” has errors in subject–verb agreement and article use. Verb forms are also inaccurate in “people in the past not taking it,” and some long sentences combine several ideas without clear punctuation. Practise accurate present and past forms, subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. Aim to make the basic sentence patterns reliable before extending them with clauses such as “because” or “although.”
