Student answer (Band 6.0)
Fat deposition in human bodies has become a serious challenge in contemporary world. Many people argue that, tactics used by fast food producers in their advertisements, contribute largely to this problem, however; some assume that this is not the case. Personally, I believe that these agencies have added fuel to the fire.
Advertisement for junk food is a primary cause of obesity nowadays. The said food is considered as a poison for healthy person as it contains higher level of unsaturated fat which increases the cholestrol level. The individual crave for fast food mainly because they had seen previously an mouth watering ad of it. Sometimes, the color combination of the franchises also augments customers` love for junk food. For instance, the red and yellow colours stimulate the hunger signals. The famous international food chains KFC and Mcdonalds utilize this strategy by painting their restuarants red and yellow and also by using such colours in their ads. Consequently, the advertisement campaigns run by global fast food chains add to the obesity of people by compelling them to consume more of their products. Hence, these techniques should be completely banned.
In contrast, others say that this is not true, the advertisement of junk food has nothing to do with obesity in society, thus they ought not to be banned. In accordance with their point of view, a person should have strong will power and motivation enough to ignore such ads. For companies, it is crucial to run such ads for their profit. However, the people must not involve themselves in such trap. Moreover, they believe that lack of physical exercise coupled with poor sleep schedule has provided a foundation for this menace, These multinational corporations such as Pizza Hut and Burger King can benefit the state economically by attracting foreign direct investment. Therefore, they argue that the advertisement techniques used by such brands should not face ban.
In conclusion, people agree that eating plenty of junk food causes obesity, however; the ban on their ads is debated. As far as my perspective is concerned, although there should not be a ban on their adverstiments yet some regulations must be introduced which make the ads less tampting. A fine should be there if the companies violate those laws. This will reduce the cases of obesity in society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and state your own position: you first support the claim that advertising encourages consumption, then present the counterargument about personal responsibility, exercise, sleep, and economic benefits. Your examples of colour-based marketing and international chains make the discussion relevant. The conclusion also gives a clear, qualified view: you oppose a total ban but support regulation and fines. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that advertising is a “primary cause” is not weighed against other influences, and the economic argument is introduced without showing why investment should outweigh health concerns. Develop these comparisons and support key claims more carefully to make the response consistently fuller.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from advertising’s influence to the opposing view and then your own position is easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “In contrast,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal these stages. At times, however, cohesion feels mechanical or the relationship between ideas is not fully clear. In the second body paragraph, the point about physical exercise and sleep is followed by the economic benefits of fast-food companies, but the connection between these arguments could be made more explicit. Some long sentences also combine several claims. Use clearer topic sentences and transitions that show whether a point is an example, explanation, or counterargument.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary and attempt some less common expressions, including “adds fuel to the fire,” “mouth watering,” and “foundation for this menace.” Topic-specific terms such as “advertisement campaigns,” “physical exercise,” and “foreign direct investment” help convey the discussion. However, several choices are inaccurate or awkward, which limits precision: “fat deposition” is an unnatural way to introduce obesity, and “the individual crave” does not express the intended idea naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “cholestrol,” “restuarants,” and “adverstiments.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than ornate phrasing, and proofread spelling carefully. This would make your vocabulary more flexible and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses introduced by “although” and “because,” and most of your meaning remains understandable. Some grammatical errors nevertheless recur. For example, “The individual crave” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “they had seen previously” uses an unsuitable tense for a general explanation. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention: “an mouth watering ad” has an article error, and the opening sentence joins independent clauses with “however” and a semicolon incorrectly. In the conclusion, “although there should not be a ban … yet” creates an awkward clause structure. Review agreement, tense, articles, and punctuation, and check that each complex sentence is complete and correctly joined.
