Student answer (Band 5.0)

obesity is a serious health issue in many society. Some people believe that junk food advertisment is the main cause of obesity. While other thinks advertising of junk food is not the cause of obesity. I strongly agree that advertising of junk food is the main cause of obesity because its main target is children.

To begin with, obesity is caused by the junk food because it encourage unhealthy eating habits. Advertising of junk food target the children and young generation because they liked to eat junk food. Promotion of pizza, burgres, chocolates and sugary products caused a major health problem obesity. many people increased the compustion of high calories that is the main source of obesity. compustion of high sugary products make a person dull and his brain cant working propely. People who has obesity problem are unfit to work and they can not walk because due to due obesity people have shortness of breath and they become more tired.

Moreover, lack of physically activities also caused obesity. Advertising of junk food become a main reason of unhealthy eating habit because people do not know about the quality of food that they eat. Majority of the people need only best taste of the junk food. Youngsters in the night daily go to the cafes with friends and eat pizza and burgers after some time they have a major health problem obesity. People do not have a personal choice they only eat that they saw in advertisment and also people have lack of nutritional awareness. In my opinion people who eat junk food daily also do proper physical activity in this result they do not caused by obesity and always have a good health.

Both advertising and lifestyle choices contribute to obesity.A complete advertising ban may not be necessary. Restricting junk food advertisements, particularly those targeting children, is a better solution.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear opinion in the introduction, saying advertising is a main cause, and your final paragraph offers a practical position: restrict adverts aimed at children rather than impose a complete ban. You also mention lifestyle choices, which is relevant to the opposing view. However, the discussion of that view is not fully developed: the second body paragraph mostly repeats that advertising influences food choices, and the claim that people who eat junk food daily can remain healthy through exercise is unclear and conflicts with your earlier argument. Explain more directly why some people believe advertising is not a major cause, then weigh that view against your own with a specific example or evidence. This would make the response address both sides more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a concluding position. Linking phrases such as “To begin with” and “Moreover” help signal the sequence of points. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear: the second body paragraph shifts between physical inactivity, advertising, nutritional awareness and exercise without showing how these points connect. Some ideas are repeated, particularly the claim that advertising encourages unhealthy eating. The final paragraph is concise but arrives abruptly after the preceding discussion. Use each body paragraph to develop one distinct view, and add clearer links between claims and examples. More precise referencing would also help readers follow who “they” and “people” refer to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a relevant set of topic words, including “obesity,” “advertising,” “unhealthy eating habits,” “high calories” and “nutritional awareness,” so the subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “junk food,” “people” and “obesity.” Some inaccurate word choices and collocations make parts difficult to interpret, such as “compustion,” “a person dull,” and “best taste of the junk food.” Spelling errors such as “advertisment,” “burgres” and “propely” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise vocabulary for causes and effects—for example, “consumption,” “sedentary lifestyle” and “contribute to weight gain”—and check spelling and natural word combinations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “While” and a reason clause with “because.” However, sentence structures are limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some ideas hard to follow. Examples include “advertising … target the children,” “it encourage,” and “People who has obesity,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect. There are also problems with articles, plurals and sentence construction, as in “in many society” and “they can not walk because due to due obesity.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including the lowercase opening and the missing space after “obesity.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build longer sentences around one clear main clause, then proofread for articles, plurals and punctuation.
