Student answer (Band 5.0)
In today's world, obesity is one of the major problems that are faced by the people. Some people believe that the advertising of junk food is the main cause of this issue and that it should be banned, while others argue that direct advertising does not contribute to the problem of obesity and should not be banned. In my opinion, the largely advertisement is increasing more which is affecting the people to eat more junk food and it should be banned.
In recent years, advertisements have played a crucial role in promoting products. Especially youngsters are getting trapped into eating unhealthy food. The authorities should take necessary action against these advertisements and promote healthy products. To illustrate, children from a young age are attracted towards these ads. They force their parents to buy the product, which has chemicals and preservatives in it. As a result, these can cause several health problems, such as being overweight. Moreover, the advertisements don't show the harmful effects of the products, so parents should avoid these products and encourage their children to eat home-cooked food. Consequently, these changes will be more useful for the children for eating healthy diet.
On the other hand, the advertisement will not contribute to the problem. Therefore, some people believe that advertising junk food will not create the issue. There are various things which are contributing to obesity, such as lack of walking and not doing other sports activities. To illustrate, in advertisements, they show more false statements regarding the products. These encourage youngsters to buy these products, and it is affecting them.
In conclusion, youngsters are eating more junk food than adults; these false advertisements are motivating young children to buy these products. These products are causing severe health problems like obesity. Whereas these products don't affect them immediately, they raise their spike in eating these food. believe that it should be banned.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You present a relevant opinion that junk-food advertising should be banned, and you give supporting points about children being influenced and the possible health effects. However, the discussion of the opposing view is only briefly introduced: you mention inactivity and lack of sport, but do not explain why these factors mean advertising should remain permitted. Your position also becomes unclear in places, particularly in the conclusion, where “Whereas these products don't affect them immediately” is followed by the incomplete and confusing phrase “believe that it should be banned.” Develop both sides more evenly, explain the reasoning behind each view, and state your own position consistently. The response addresses the topic, but its ideas remain limited and under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate body paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Basic linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, ideas are not always arranged in a clear progression: the second body paragraph first says advertising does not contribute, then describes misleading advertisements that encourage young people to buy the products. This creates a contradiction rather than developing the opposing view. Some references, including “these changes” and “these products,” are also unclear, and the final sentence is difficult to follow. Make each paragraph’s main point explicit and use linking and referencing to show how each supporting idea relates to it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general subject, including “obesity,” “preservatives,” “health problems,” and “home-cooked food.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “promoting products” and “false statements.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations sound unnatural or imprecise, for example “the largely advertisement,” “getting trapped into eating,” and “raise their spike in eating these food.” Repetition of “advertisements,” “products,” and “youngsters” also limits flexibility. Aim for more accurate collocations and vary repeated terms; for instance, describe advertising as “influential” or “persuasive,” and refer to “the consumption of unhealthy food.” These changes would make your meaning clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “while,” “which,” and “so,” and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, errors occur frequently, especially in agreement, sentence construction, and clause completion. For example, “obesity is one of the major problems that are faced” has awkward agreement and structure, while “the largely advertisement is increasing more” is grammatically unclear. The conclusion ends with the fragment “believe that it should be banned,” which has no stated subject. There are also problems with plural forms and sentence boundaries, as in “these food.” Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and complete sentences before adding subordinate clauses, then check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
