Student answer (Band 6.0)
Obesity is considered as a main concern in many societies. Some believe that junk food should be banned as it plays a main role to this issue. However, many argue that the cause of obesity is not associated with advertisment of junk food and there is no need to ban junk food items. In my opinion, food advertisment holds accountablility as it creates a desire in people to try them.
Nowadays, the production of junk food are on their rise because of marketing campaigns led by food brands. During the process of designing food campaigns, companies use enhance visuals and a unique storytelling theme that develops an urge in people to taste them by eating outdoors such as in resturants. Junk food contains high amount of preserved referigerants that helps them to stay fresh even after the prolonged period of time. Hence, people whose diet contains a significant portion of junk food eventually develops health issues such as obesity. That is why, people believe that they should be banned.
On the other hand, it is an ongoing debate that people think that issue of obesity has nothing to do with advertisment of junk food. We live in a world where everyone has the freedom to chose in whatever they want to eat. It is entirely one's person decision whether they would like to eat healthy food or junk food. So, it should not be banned.
In conclusion, the problem of obesity has become a primary issue. It is widely argued that advertisment of junk food contributes to this condition and people should boycott them. Whereas, others feel that obesity is not linked with food advertisment as it depends on a person eating habit. From my prespective, I firmly believe that marketing campaigns of junk food are responsible for this problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and make your own position clear: you argue that advertising encourages people to try junk food and contributes to obesity. The first body paragraph gives a relevant explanation involving persuasive campaigns and health effects, while the second presents the opposing argument that food choices are a matter of personal freedom. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The case for banning advertising is explained, but the opposing view is mostly asserted rather than supported with an example or fuller reasoning. The link between advertising and obesity could also be made more precise: explain how exposure influences purchasing or eating habits, rather than relying mainly on a general claim about marketing. This would make the discussion more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Transitions such as “However,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion, and the ideas generally progress in a logical order. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. To improve further, make the links between claims more explicit and avoid mechanical or unclear connections. For example, “Hence” introduces the claim that junk food leads to health issues, but the preceding point about preservatives does not clearly establish that relationship. The conclusion’s “Whereas” also creates a fragment-like contrast. Use clearer sentence connections and refer back to the specific arguments rather than repeating broad claims.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “marketing campaigns,” “significant portion,” “health issues,” and “personal decision,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision. For instance, “holds accountability” is not the natural way to say that advertising is responsible, and “enhance visuals” should be expressed with an appropriate adjective. Spelling errors such as “advertisment,” “resturants,” and “preserved referigerants” are noticeable; the last phrase also appears to use the wrong term for substances that keep food fresh. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling, especially in repeated topic words, so your vocabulary communicates ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “people whose diet contains…” and a conditional structure in “whether they would like to eat…”. Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “the production of junk food are” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “people … eventually develops” also needs agreement between the subject and verb. In “It is entirely one's person decision,” the possessive construction is not formed correctly. There are also awkward sentence patterns, such as “by eating outdoors such as in restaurants,” which make the relationship between ideas difficult to follow. Review agreement and possessive forms, and build complex sentences around clear, complete clauses.
