Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. The summary of the data is fragmented and lacks a clear overview of the main trends. While some figures are mentioned, the comparison between the years 2000 and 2011 is confusing and often inaccurate. The response does not adequately highlight the key features of the pie charts, such as the significant shifts in export percentages for specific countries. Because the response is incomplete and under-length, it does not provide a comprehensive summary of the information provided in the charts.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The organization of the response is poor. The text lacks logical progression, and the paragraphing is ineffective, with the final paragraph being incomplete. Cohesive devices are used incorrectly or are absent, making the relationship between ideas difficult to follow. For example, phrases like 'On the one hand' and 'on tghe other hand' are used without a clear structure to support the argument or comparison. The referencing is often unclear, and the flow of information is disjointed, which hinders the reader's ability to understand the data being presented.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'Comparision', 'percents', 'good to exports', 'icreased', and 'gradully'. These errors, combined with the misuse of terminology related to data description, make the text difficult to interpret. The student struggles to use appropriate vocabulary to describe trends or statistical changes, relying on basic and often incorrect phrasing. The vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information accurately or professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The grammatical control is weak, with frequent errors that impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement, sentence structure, and punctuation. Many sentences are fragmented or lack a clear subject and verb, such as 'Austria 2% and declined 1%'. The use of tenses is inconsistent, and there is a lack of complex sentence structures. The frequent errors in basic grammar, such as 'EU exports is 13%' instead of 'are', and the incomplete nature of the sentences, demonstrate a lack of control over standard English grammar.
