Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the task by comparing the data for India and China across the two years. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identify some key figures, the description of the changes is imprecise. For example, stating that India 'increased and decreased' its imports from Germany and Belgium by 5% is confusing and does not clearly reflect the data trends. Furthermore, the summary of China's exports in 2011 is vague, as you mention a 'one-tenth' increase but fail to provide a clear comparison of the actual percentages. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are selected more strategically to highlight significant trends rather than listing individual percentages.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for the two countries, and a brief overview. Cohesive devices such as 'In 2000', 'On the other hand', and 'Similarly' are used to guide the reader. However, the progression of ideas within the second paragraph is slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'combinedly accounted for'. The overview is present but could be more effectively integrated to synthesize the main trends rather than just repeating the focus on Germany. Overall, the structure is clear enough to follow without difficulty.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'accounted for', and 'significantly'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'combinedly' (which is not standard English) and 'imports done by' (a more natural phrasing would be 'imports to'). Additionally, there are minor errors in punctuation and spacing, such as 'it's' (possessive 'its' is required) and missing spaces after commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band score for lexical precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly regarding possessive pronouns and subject-verb agreement, such as 'China increased it's import' and 'India increased and decreased it's import'. The use of 'one-tenth' is a good attempt at variety, but the sentence structure in the final paragraph is slightly awkward. While you attempt complex sentences, the frequency of minor errors in basic grammar and punctuation limits the score. Focusing on proofreading for possessives and pluralization would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
