Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the data and provided comparisons between the two years. However, the overview is somewhat weak; it lacks a clear summary of the most significant trends, such as Germany's dominance in both markets or the general shift in export proportions. While you have included specific data points, some of the descriptions are slightly confusing, such as the phrase 'almost marginal export from a lot of European countries'. To improve, ensure your overview highlights the most striking differences or similarities across the charts rather than just listing individual country changes. The data is generally accurate, but the presentation could be more analytical.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'In 2000', 'In 2011', 'In China'). There are also instances where the flow between sentences is disjointed, such as the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when discussing the 'others' or specific percentage changes. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, including terms like 'percentage', 'decline', and 'constant'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'importations in India' (should be 'imports to India') and '1% raise' (should be '1% increase'). Additionally, some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'outstanding large import'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are appropriate for the context of reporting data. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' will also help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Finland strangely maintain', 'Belgium remain constant') and punctuation errors, such as starting sentences with lowercase letters ('while had a significant...', 'in 2011, there was...'). There are also issues with prepositions and articles ('exported goods to Indian', 'the Uk'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence structure would significantly improve your performance.
