Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the task, providing a clear overview and selecting key features for comparison. You successfully identified the main trends, such as Germany's rise in exports to India and its dominance in the Chinese market. However, the report could be improved by grouping the data more effectively. For instance, listing every single country in the 'other' category is unnecessary and makes the text feel like a list rather than an analytical summary. Focusing on the most significant changes and the most prominent countries would demonstrate a higher level of data selection and synthesis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the data for India and China. You use some cohesive devices like 'Meanwhile', 'By contrast', and 'followed by', which help the flow of information. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be smoother. For example, the phrase 'mentioned in previous paragraph' is a bit clunky; using a more natural reference like 'the remaining nations' would improve the flow. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'overtaken', 'maintained its position', and 'expanded'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'huge exporter' (a better choice would be 'major' or 'significant') and 'the Germany' (the definite article is not used before country names). While you attempt some less common vocabulary, the repetition of 'exported' and 'countries' limits the sophistication of the response. To reach a higher band, try to vary your verbs and nouns to avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles (e.g., 'the Germany', 'the United Kingdom') and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the number of goods... was 29%, 25% and 15%'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. You have attempted some complex structures, but they are occasionally faulty. Focusing on consistent article usage and ensuring that plural subjects match their verbs will help improve your accuracy and move you toward a higher band score.
