Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the data and provided relevant comparisons. You covered both years and both destinations (India and China) as required. However, the report could be improved by ensuring all data points mentioned are accurate and by providing a more comprehensive overview of the trends. For instance, while you noted the decrease in UK exports to India, you could have highlighted the significant growth in other areas to provide a more balanced summary. The inclusion of specific percentages is good, but ensure these are consistently accurate based on the provided charts to avoid misinterpretation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for India and China. You use cohesive devices such as 'however', 'in the both years', and 'throughout the period' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be smoother. For example, the phrase 'in the both years' is used repeatedly, which makes the flow feel a bit repetitive. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that paragraph breaks clearly separate distinct themes would help elevate the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'depict', and 'significantly'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'the least amount of products were imported' (the charts show exports, not imports) and 'in the terms of other European countries'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for', and ensure you are describing the data from the perspective of the EU countries as exporters.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'the highest amount of goods were exported' (should be 'was' to agree with 'amount') and 'in the both years' (the article 'the' is unnecessary). Additionally, there are some punctuation and capitalization slips, such as 'china' (should be capitalized). To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score.
