Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the pie charts, but the analysis is inconsistent. While you identify some key trends, such as Germany's growth in exports to both India and China, the reporting of data is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, you state that the UK's share to India 'reduces to 13%' in 2011, but the data provided in the prompt is not clearly interpreted. Furthermore, the description of countries with less than 10% share is vague and lacks specific data points. To improve, ensure you select the most significant changes and support them with accurate figures from the charts, rather than listing countries without clear comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Beside that' and 'At last' are used incorrectly to transition between ideas. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'the remaining trend remain almost same', which lacks a clear antecedent. While there is an attempt at logical progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive structure of the sentences hinder the flow of the response. Improving the variety of transition signals would significantly enhance the coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'increases', 'decreases', and 'response', which are often used in contexts that are not entirely natural, such as 'cooperative response' or 'opposite reponse'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'Austrai', 'Itly', 'deacrease', and 'increasement', which is not a standard English word. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary for describing trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'accounted for', or 'experienced a significant rise', and ensure that your spelling is accurate throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'pie charts expresses', 'trend remain'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'India got their utmost transport'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses would be a beneficial next step.
