Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends and comparing the data for 2000 and 2011. You successfully highlighted the shift in Germany's dominance and the decline of the UK's share. However, the report is slightly mechanical in its listing of percentages, and some comparisons could be more analytical. For instance, instead of just listing numbers, you could group countries by their growth or decline patterns more effectively. The overview is clear, but the data presentation in the body paragraphs is occasionally repetitive, which limits the depth of the analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on India and China respectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on simple transitions like 'followed by' and 'next was'. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect ideas, such as 'In contrast,' 'Conversely,' or 'Meanwhile,' to better guide the reader through the comparisons. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to describe the data, such as 'proportion,' 'dominance,' and 'contributed.' However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'seen increasing' (should be 'saw an increase') and 'was same at' (should be 'remained the same at'). The repetition of 'seen' and 'declined' suggests a limited range of synonyms for describing trends. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise verbs and nouns to describe changes, such as 'surged,' 'plummeted,' or 'witnessed a marginal shift.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'the Germany was on top,' 'The Sweden was declined,' 'France and Belgium was increased'). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to verb tenses and the correct use of articles before country names. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures would also help demonstrate better control over grammar.
