The pie charts below show exports from various EU countries to India and China in 2000 and 2011.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

EU Exports of Goods to India and China in 2000 and 2011

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given charts display information regarding the European exports of goods to both India and China across an 11-year period. It is evident that great changes are seen in regards to which countries export the most goods to India and China.

In 2000, It is seen that the greatest chunk of goods shipped to India comes from the United Kingdom, closely followed by Belgium. However, 11 years later, exports from the United Kingdom dropped tremendously with an overall 15% decrease, whereas Belgium's exports were reduced very slightly, but not as significantly. On the contrary, Germany pursued greater exports of items to India with a whopping 10% increase over the decade, taking the United Kingdom's place for the greatest exports to the land of India. Furthermore, countries such as Austria, France and Finland remain constant in their exports with minimal changes.

Though Germany shows relatively lower exports of goods to India, the opposite is seen in China. Throughout the 11 years of this tracked data, the greatest exports to China came from Germany and they even increased by 10% overtime. However, other countries show little exports to China compared to Germany. As Germany increased its exports, France proceeded to decrease the shipping of goods to China by 5%, bringing down its exports to 10%. A similiar trend can be seen with Sweden, as its exports drop from 8% to 3%. Additionally, little to no changes can be seen regarding other countries' exports to China.
