Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the pie charts, identifying key trends for both India and China. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you mention specific percentages, you miss opportunities to make meaningful comparisons between the two countries or across the two time periods. For instance, you could have highlighted that Germany's dominance increased in both markets, whereas the UK's share in India saw a significant decline. The overview is also quite weak; it merely restates a specific detail rather than summarizing the overall trends. To improve, ensure your overview captures the 'big picture'—such as the shift in market shares—rather than just listing individual data points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Overall' to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some sentences feel disconnected. For example, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear; in the final sentence, you mention 'Australia', which is not present in the provided data, causing confusion. Improving the use of linking phrases and ensuring that your references are accurate will help create a more cohesive and professional response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the data clearly. You use terms like 'proportion', 'drastically declined', and 'slightly decreased' effectively. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'creased and reached' (should be 'increased') and 'shares quarter proportion' (should be 'shared a quarter of the proportion'). There is also a lack of variety in your reporting verbs. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to trends and data analysis, and ensure that your word forms are consistently accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Germany exports' vs 'Germany exported'), incorrect tense usage ('In 2000, Germany exports'), and missing articles ('to china'). Some sentences are also awkwardly phrased, such as 'The given pie charts compare the India and china who imports goods'. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the essay from achieving a higher score. Focusing on consistent tense usage and article placement will significantly improve your accuracy.
