The pie charts below show exports from various EU countries to India and China in 2000 and 2011.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

EU Exports of Goods to India and China in 2000 and 2011

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given chart shows EU exports of goods to India and China in year 2000 and 2011. The upper two charts show the EU export to India while the lower two show the same to China. The biggest exporter during the year 2000 was the UK to India amounting 29% while Belgium and Germany were second and third consecutively. During 2011 Germany was the biggest one, exporting 25% of the total EU exports while Belgium's exports were reduced by 5% as compared to year 2000. UK exports also dropped from 29% during the year 2000 to 13% during 2011. The rest of the countries increased their exports to India by 1% to 10% during the two years.

On the other hand, Germany exported 38% of the total EU exports to China during 2000 which increased to 48% during 2011. Only France's exports touched the double figure i.e. 13% which also dropped by 3% during the year 2011.

Overall, total EU exports dropped from the rest of the EU except Germany during the aforementioned years which grew by 10% alone.
