Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, such as the dominance of Germany in China and the UK's position in India in 2000. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks a clear overview of the trends. While you mention specific percentages, the comparison between the two years is not fully developed, and some data points are described in a way that is difficult to follow. To reach a higher band, ensure you provide a clear summary of the most significant trends and make more direct comparisons between the two time periods rather than listing data points in isolation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the phrase 'Germany as in whole export'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly when moving between the two countries and the two years. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear focus would enhance the logical flow of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on repetitive phrasing such as 'exporting goods' and 'proportion of exports'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'significant shrinkage' and 'Germany export enhance'. To improve, try to incorporate more varied reporting verbs and nouns related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'accounted for', or 'a marginal decline'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'goods are exported by UK are at highest chunk', 'two year : 2000 and 2011', and 'Germany as in whole export'. Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are inconsistent. To achieve a higher score, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring correct tense usage when describing past data.
