Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is inconsistent and occasionally confusing. While you identify some key trends, such as Germany's dominance, the description of the data is often inaccurate or difficult to follow. For example, stating that 'France had a difference of only 1% for both the countries and same as for others' is vague and fails to clearly report the specific data points provided in the charts. To improve, ensure you select the most significant data points and compare them clearly rather than attempting to list too many minor details, which leads to confusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'At a fleeting glance' and 'Moving further to year 2011'. Some sentences are disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two years. Referencing is also problematic; for instance, the phrase 'same as for others surprisingly' lacks a clear antecedent, which disrupts the flow of information. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation. Phrases like 'calibrated into percentages' and 'ratio of 38%' are used incorrectly in this context. Additionally, the term 'percentile' is misused when referring to simple percentages. While you attempt to use some descriptive language, the inaccuracies in terminology and the repetitive nature of the sentence structures limit your score. Focusing on using precise statistical vocabulary and ensuring words are used in their correct collocations will help you achieve a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the highest export was in Germany however the lowest export was in Austria' (missing punctuation and awkward phrasing) and 'United Kingdom was with the highest proportion' (incorrect preposition usage). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are also inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic sentence construction and punctuation.
