EU Exports of Goods to India and China in 2000 and 2011
Student answer (Band 4.5)
The pie chart compares the export goods of various EU countries like India and China in 2000 to 2011. I am going to summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and noticeable things and make comparisons.
Europe exports the goods to many Asian countries including India and China. The EU exports of goods to India more from UK rather than in Belgium in 2000 but In China Germany exports more goods in UK and Belgium. Meanwhile, Germany also exports goods in India but as compare to China, it less. The other European countries also exports goods in India and China such as Finland and France. But as compare to those countries they export less.
In 2011, Belgium and Germany exports more goods in India as compare to other European countries. While exporting in china in 2011, Germany exports more goods. If we compare the both pie charts of China, then Germany exports large number of goods in china rather than other countries and same as for India

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a clear overview or accurately report the data. The description of the pie charts is confusing, and the comparisons are often inaccurate or lack specific data points. For instance, the statement 'Germany exports more goods in UK and Belgium' is unclear, as the charts represent exports to India and China, not from the UK or Belgium. The response lacks a clear summary of the main trends, such as the significant growth in exports to China. The information is presented in a way that makes it difficult for the reader to grasp the key features of the data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is repetitive and sometimes misused, such as the frequent use of 'as compare to'. The referencing is often unclear, making it difficult to follow the comparisons between the countries and the years. The introduction is unnecessary, as it includes a meta-commentary about what the writer intends to do rather than simply presenting the information. The overall structure lacks the cohesion required for a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic phrasing such as 'exports the goods' and 'more goods'. There is a lack of variety in reporting verbs or comparative language. Errors in word choice, such as 'as compare to' instead of 'compared to', are frequent and impede the flow of the text. There is no attempt to use less common vocabulary or precise terminology related to data analysis, such as 'proportion', 'accounted for', or 'fluctuated'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often obscure the intended meaning. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Germany exports more goods... and same as for India') and preposition usage (e.g., 'exports goods in India' instead of 'to India'). The sentence structures are simple and repetitive, with very few attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and sentence boundaries. These errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.
