Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, identifying key trends and making relevant comparisons between the two years and the two destinations. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention that Germany became the major supplier to India, you could have provided more specific comparative data or highlighted the shift in market share more effectively. The overview is present but could be more analytical by grouping the countries more clearly. Overall, the response addresses the requirements of the task, but the lack of depth in comparing the 'other' countries and the slight over-generalisation in the overview limit the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. There is a clear progression of ideas as you move from the year 2000 to 2011. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'In the year 2000', 'In 2011', 'Then it was'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as when you refer to 'the other country' without specifying which group you are referencing. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect the data points more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the trends (e.g., 'major supplier', 'decreased', 'increased'). However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'eprcentage', 'chnages', 'befor', and 'reamained', which are distracting. You also rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with precise terminology for data reporting. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more sophisticated collocations and ensure accuracy in spelling. The range is sufficient to convey the meaning, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'United kingdom and belgium where the major country'), incorrect pluralisation (e.g., 'the other country were'), and punctuation errors. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your sentences are grammatically sound. The attempt at complex structures is present, but the lack of accuracy in these structures prevents a higher score.
