Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task and identifies key trends, such as Germany's growth in both markets. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical, listing changes for each country rather than synthesising the data into a cohesive overview. While the main features are highlighted, some comparisons lack precision, such as the vague mention of 'minimal' increases. To reach a higher band, you should focus on grouping data more effectively to highlight significant shifts rather than listing individual country changes, which can feel like a catalogue of data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main categories (India and China). Cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'In contrast', and 'Additionally' are used, though some transitions feel slightly repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, although the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking structures to connect the data points more fluidly rather than relying on a list-like format.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'constituted', 'marginally', and 'contribution'. However, there are some inaccuracies and awkward phrasings, such as 'exports' number' and 'remained ame' (a typo). The vocabulary is functional but lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your terminology is consistently accurate throughout the report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'which constituted for 25%' (the preposition 'for' is unnecessary) and 'had increase' (missing an article). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are minor slips that slightly detract from the overall fluency. To achieve a higher score, ensure consistent control over articles and prepositions and aim for a wider variety of complex sentence structures that are error-free.
