Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identify Germany as the leader, the description of other countries is vague and lacks precise data comparison. For instance, you mention 'downward trend' for several countries without specifying the actual percentages or the extent of the change. To reach a higher band, you must ensure that all key features are supported by accurate data from the charts. The overview is present but could be more analytical by highlighting the most significant shifts rather than just stating that things fluctuated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. Phrases like 'in both of the years' and 'with other nations fluctuated' create awkward transitions that disrupt the flow of information. The logical progression is present, but the connections between sentences could be smoother. Improving the use of linking words such as 'whereas', 'in contrast', or 'consequently' would help to better connect your ideas and improve the overall coherence of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'depicted pie chart', 'various goods production exports', and 'widely accepted to China'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly unclear. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology related to data reporting, such as 'proportion', 'accounted for', 'experienced a decline', or 'remained stable'. Expanding your range of collocations will help you express your ideas more naturally and accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Germany accounts for', 'Belgium share were'), incorrect pluralisation ('in both of the year'), and missing articles. These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, although they do not completely impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to basic grammar rules, particularly verb tenses and noun-number agreement. Proofreading your work for these small but frequent slips would significantly enhance the clarity and professionalism of your writing.
