Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. Furthermore, the response is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. While you have attempted to identify some main features, the analysis is fragmented and lacks a clear, comprehensive overview of the data. Several figures are mentioned, but the comparison between the two years and the two destinations is not fully developed. To improve, ensure you provide a complete summary that covers all key trends and reaches the required length, avoiding incomplete sentences that leave the task unfinished.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow is disrupted by the incomplete ending. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall' and 'In contrast to', but the logical progression is hindered by the lack of a concluding summary and the abrupt termination of the text. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the data for China and India feels mechanical rather than fluid. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your ideas are linked logically throughout the entire response, leading to a finished conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision. You use basic terms like 'increased', 'fell', and 'showed', which are repetitive. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'Eu' (EU), 'Netherland' (Netherlands), 'potion' (portion), and 'repesented' (represented). These errors, while not always impeding communication, demonstrate a lack of control over more sophisticated vocabulary. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of reporting verbs and nouns related to data trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for', and ensure you proofread for basic spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'comparison about exports' (comparison of), 'exports increased from United kingdom' (the United Kingdom), and 'others almost repesented minor fluctuations'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after some numbers (e.g., 'from25%'). The incomplete final sentence further detracts from the grammatical accuracy of the piece. To improve, focus on article usage (the UK), subject-verb agreement, and consistent punctuation. Reviewing basic sentence construction will help you produce more error-free sentences.
