Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all requirements of the task. You have identified the main features and provided relevant comparisons between the two years and the two destinations. The overview is clear and highlights the significant growth of Germany as an exporter. However, the report could be improved by ensuring all data points are accurately represented; for instance, the description of the lowest exporters in 2011 could be more precise. Overall, the information is well-selected, and the key trends are effectively communicated to the reader, meeting the requirements for a Band 7.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'in comparison', and 'furthermore' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be smoother. For example, in the final paragraph, the sentence structure is a bit cluttered, which slightly affects the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the data for India and China, which helps the reader follow the comparison. Overall, the progression is clear throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. You use terms like 'substantial growth', 'overtaking', 'retaining its position', and 'downward trend' effectively. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'lowest supplier' (should be plural) and 'merchant of goods', which is slightly unnatural in this context. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the precision is occasionally lacking. Nevertheless, the range is adequate for the task, and the errors do not impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement ('The pie chart illustrate' instead of 'illustrates') and missing articles ('UK was at 29%' instead of 'the UK'). Additionally, some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'reaching at 13%'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the data. To reach a higher band, you should focus on consistent subject-verb agreement and more accurate use of prepositions and articles.
