Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. While you identify key trends, there are inaccuracies in your interpretation of the data (e.g., stating India exports to the UK, whereas the chart shows EU exports to India). The overview is poorly structured, focusing on the number of charts rather than the key trends. To improve, ensure you clearly distinguish between the source and destination of the exports and provide a more cohesive summary of the main trends in the introduction or overview paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by repetitive and awkward phrasing in the introduction. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as 'Like as' and 'Except this'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two years. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains several spelling errors, such as 'illustrete', 'diffrent', 'draematically', and 'recieved'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the range is narrow and repetitive. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'recieved nation' instead of 'recipient country'. To reach a higher band, you should focus on accurate spelling and expanding your range of vocabulary to include more precise terms for describing trends and data comparisons.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('India exports highest goods'), article usage, and sentence fragments. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of full stops in the middle of sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limits the score. Focus on mastering basic sentence structure and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and articles.
