Student answer (Band 6.0)
The four pie charts represents the exports of goods to India and China in 2000 and 2011 by various EU countires. Overall, United Kingdom and Belgium were the major exporters to India, and Germany held the major share of exports to China in 2000s. But in 2011 United Kingdom's exports were reduced and Germany became major exporters to both the countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview. You successfully identified the main trends, such as Germany's rise as the dominant exporter and the decline of the UK's share. However, the report is slightly mechanical in its presentation of data. For instance, listing every single country's percentage in the first body paragraph is unnecessary and makes the text feel like a data dump rather than an analytical summary. To improve, focus more on grouping countries with similar trends rather than listing them individually. The comparison between the two years is well-handled, but ensure that the 'main features' are highlighted more prominently than the raw data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a summary. The progression of ideas is generally clear. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes repetitive or slightly awkward, such as 'Well fast forward to 2011' and 'where as'. These phrases are a bit informal for an Academic Task 1 report. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally mechanical. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that transitions between sentences are smoother would help elevate the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, including terms like 'dominant exporter', 'exponential increase', and 'dipped'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and spelling, such as 'countires' (repeatedly misspelled), 'Austia', and 'Gemany'. Furthermore, the phrasing 'the pie chart has had a drastic change of exports' is slightly unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure consistent accuracy in spelling. The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the sophistication required for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The four pie charts represents', 'United Kingdom and Belgium were the major exporters... and Germany held the major share') and punctuation errors. The phrase 'were as Germany saw' should be 'whereas'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and ensure that complex sentences are constructed with greater precision.
