Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response attempts to address the prompt by discussing exports from EU countries to India and China in 2000 and 2011. However, the text breaks off mid-sentence ('In china, Germany and'), resulting in an incomplete response. Furthermore, the length requirement of at least 150 words is not met, as the text contains only 144 words. While the student identifies some key features—such as Germany's dominance and the UK and Belgium's figures in India—the lack of completion heavily restricts the overall task fulfillment, leading to a penalty under Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response shows an attempt to structure the information logically with an introductory overview and subsequent body details. Cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'Although', 'while', 'consequtively'), but referencing and transitions are sometimes awkward or imprecise, such as 'In china, Germany and' abruptly ending the text. Paragraphing is initiated but disrupted by the sudden termination of the writing. Cohesion is occasionally mechanical and faulty.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for a data task, using terms like 'proportion', 'exports', 'least popular', and 'portion'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors ('consequtively') and inappropriate word choices or phrasing ('Austria taking top least portion', 'India like to exports from'). The vocabulary is adequate to convey basic concepts about the charts, but errors in word formation and collocation limit the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as concessive clauses ('Although France and Italian goods...'). However, grammatical control is inconsistent, with frequent errors including subject-verb agreement issues ('India like to exports'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing. Because the text cuts off abruptly, it is difficult to fully assess the final structural range, but the existing errors cause some distraction for the reader.
