The pie charts below show exports from various EU countries to India and China in 2000 and 2011.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie charts illustrate exports done by European countries with India and China in 2000 and 2011.

Overall, the biggest exporter for China over the both years was Germany. However, for India it was different as in 2000 the greatest exporter was the UK and in 2011 again Germany took its place.

On the one hand, in 2000 India was getting a significant amount of goods from the UK and Belgium with 29% from UK and 25% from Belgium. Germany was also active with about 15% of exports done by it and the other european union had little role in it. In contrast, in 2011 Germany became the biggest exporter with 25% and Belgium was the second with 20%. The UK decreased significantly with only 13% left. The others showed very little changes.

As for China in 2000 Germany was the major exporter with 38% followed by others with small percentages like France with 13%, Italy 9% and more with fewer. Further more, in 2011 Germany even grew and holding its first position became 48%. While the rest of the countries had slight changes.
