Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover the main features of the pie charts by discussing exports to India and China in both 2000 and 2011. Key data points are cited, such as the UK leading in India in 2000 (29%) and Germany dominating China in both years (38% and 48%). However, the student fails to provide a proper overview or summary of the main trends at the beginning or end of the response. Furthermore, the selection of data points feels somewhat random rather than structured, and there are mechanical narrative transitions ('Firstly, we will talk about...') that detract from an academic overview. Task Achievement is therefore limited to Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an organizational structure divided into paragraphs for India and China, which provides a basic framework. However, the progression is disjointed due to overly conversational and repetitive signposting, such as 'Now, we will discuss the Year 2011' and 'Next, we will talk about the CHINA'. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and repetitively rather than flexibly to show clear logical relationships between ideas. Paragraphing is attempted but lacks sophisticated logical flow. This aligns closely with the Band 5 descriptors for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, heavily relying on simple terms such as 'exports', 'goods', 'increase', and 'decrease'. There are frequent awkward word choices and unnatural collocations, such as 'the how much in percentage EU countries exports the goods' and 'Germany has been exporting the goods with the rate of 25%'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic data points, the range is limited and contains noticeable errors that restrict the score to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as tense inconsistencies ('has exported only 2% but Germany has been exporting') and prepositional errors ('with the rate of', 'export from 38% to 48% as compare to'). Punctuation and article usage also show frequent lapses. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak grasp of complex structures, placing the grammar at Band 5.0.
