Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the two destinations and years, and your overview attempts to compare broad changes and name Germany as a major exporter. However, the overview is not accurate: Germany was the largest share for China in both years, but for India the UK was largest in 2000 and Germany in 2011. Austria was not consistently the smallest share. The body is unfinished and gives only a vague claim that several countries’ exports to India rose by “1-2%”; it does not report the main figures or compare China’s data. The response also contains only 90 words, below the required 150, leaving the task minimally addressed. Complete the comparison with key shares and clear, accurate trends for both destinations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response with an introduction, an overview, and a body paragraph, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “At the same time,” and “Meanwhile” show awareness of how to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the final paragraph breaks off mid-sentence (“their exports from”), and the comparison of India and China is not developed. Spacing and punctuation around transitions are inconsistent, and the long gaps do not create clear paragraph structure. Use complete paragraphs in a logical sequence: introduce the charts, summarise the main contrasts, then group and compare the most important changes.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt some topic-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “exports,” and “accounted for,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “foreign exchanged goods,” “exportation,” and “improved their exports.” “Europen” is also misspelled, and “Exports iGermany” appears to be a typing or word-choice error that makes the meaning unclear. For chart descriptions, use precise terms such as “share of exports,” “rose,” “fell,” and “accounted for.” Check spelling and collocations, and avoid describing exports as having “improved” unless you mean their value or performance specifically.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes some simple sentence patterns and attempts a more complex contrast, for example, “At the same time some countries decreased their exports.” However, grammatical control is uneven. The opening has subject–verb disagreement (“The pie charts illustrates”), and the phrase “in respective year 2000 and 2011” is missing an article and has an awkward number pattern. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces before commas and missing spaces after them. The final sentence is incomplete, so its grammatical meaning cannot be followed. Practise accurate sentence frames such as “The charts illustrate…” and “In 2000 and 2011…” and ensure every sentence has a complete clause.
