Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main contrast that Germany dominated exports to China in both years, and you report several relevant changes, including its rise from 38% to 48% and the fall in the UK share of exports to India. The response also gives a clear overview of the leading contributors. However, the overview is not fully accurate: Austria was not the smallest exporter to China in both years, since Spain was lower in 2000 and several countries tied at 2% in 2011. The claim that the UK and Germany shared the highest ratio for India is also imprecise; the UK led in 2000, while Germany led in 2011. Some comparisons are underdeveloped, and the statement that several Indian export shares remained stable overlooks notable changes such as Italy’s rise from 7% to 9%.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for India and China. This makes the main subject easy to follow, and phrases such as “On the other hand” help signal contrast. The progression is generally logical, but some links between details are abrupt or unclear. For example, “Finland, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden made upto 10% that remained almost stable” groups several countries without clearly distinguishing their figures or changes. The overview also combines the two leading India exporters in a way that obscures how leadership changed between years. To strengthen cohesion, organise each country paragraph around the largest shares first, then summarise smaller movements, using clearer references to the relevant year.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounted for,” “declined,” and “remained stable.” These choices communicate the broad trends, and the meaning is generally clear. However, some expressions are imprecise or unnatural for describing chart data, such as “made the good portion,” “export ratio,” and “made upto 10%.” Repetition of “export” and “proportion” also limits flexibility. There are spelling and word-form slips, including “btween,” “higest,” and “china,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for precise collocations such as “accounted for X% of exports” and “the share rose/fell,” and check spelling and capitalisation of country names and common words before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses and comparisons, and the overall meaning can usually be understood. Some grammatical errors remain, however. In “Germany made the highest proportion of export to china,” the singular “export” and article pattern are not well controlled; “Germany’s share of exports to China was the largest” would be clearer. The sentence beginning “Whereas Germany accounted for 15%” is a fragment, and “that grow sharply” uses an incorrect verb form. There are also punctuation and spacing problems, such as the missing space after the full stop in “2011.For india.” Work on complete sentence construction, consistent past-tense reporting, and accurate articles and plural forms. More consistently accurate sentences would improve control.
