Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important features, including the UK’s leading share of exports to India in 2000 and Germany’s dominance in both destinations by 2011. You also include relevant figures for India, such as the UK’s 29% and Germany’s rise to 25%. However, the response covers China only in the overview and gives no supporting details for either year, so the two destinations are not reported with equal completeness. Some details are also inaccurate: in 2000, the lowest shares for China were Austria and Spain, not Austria alone; in 2011, Finland was not among the smallest contributors to India, as its share was 2% alongside Austria. Include a concise comparison of the main changes in China as well as India.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph with detailed figures for India. This gives the reader a general route through the information, and phrases such as “In 2000” and “In 2011” help signal time changes. However, the progression is incomplete because the detailed paragraph discusses India only, while China appears solely in the overview. Some linking is also mechanical, particularly the repeated “In 2000” and “In 2011,” and the long lists of countries make relationships between figures harder to follow. Organise the body into clear destination-based comparisons, and use linking phrases to show increases, decreases, and contrasts rather than simply listing shares.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “contributed,” “proportion,” “ranked highest,” and “remained.” These choices show an attempt to describe shares and compare countries. However, several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “donated least,” “top one,” and “participated correspondingly,” which make the description less precise. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Belgiuim,” “substancially,” and “re maind” (written as “remaind”). Use standard chart language consistently: countries “accounted for” or “represented” a percentage, and a share “rose” or “fell.” Proofreading spelling and choosing natural collocations would make the data easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “While in 2011, Germany was top country…” and the overview’s use of “whereas.” The main meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Austria and Finland remained least contributor” needs plural agreement and an article or a different construction, while “Germany ranked highest country” is missing “the.” The sentence beginning “France, Italy Other and Netherlands participated…” also has unclear structure and article use. Punctuation is sometimes faulty, as in “Sweden and Spain, contributed,” and the final list is fragmented by a full stop before “while.” Aim for complete, well-punctuated sentences and check articles, agreement, and list structure.
