Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that learning plays a pivotal role in shaping a mannerable society. While some people contend that girls and boys should be educated together to learn and compassionate each other, other concur that co-education leads an individual to sexuality or brainwash because each gender has a different role. Although, mixed education can make a nation that can understand one another. I strongly disagree that co-education should contemned. In addition, banning co-education could not be judicious solution.

On the one hand, co-education builds character and confidence, imagine a student felt shy talking to a contrary gender in this type of condition joint education can be the one of the best way to built communication skills. Furthermore, it can help to understand each other, many couples fall apart because they are not able figure out each others feelings, which leads to separation and leave a horrible effect on children. Therefore it is mandatory for educational institutes to use a format of common education and make it ordinary among everyone.

One the other hand, there are also some terrifying side effects of mixed-gender education. Firstly, it can make students to much open minded, which can make sexual activities casual among them. However, if government and educational department pays attention on students activities and teach them in a formal way about the side effects and issues then it could be terminated.

In conclusion, positive and negative effects are a part of the process but if government pays attention on educating the people then it can be isolated for the society but prohibiting co-education is not a viable solution.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is broadly clear: you oppose prohibiting co-education, and you acknowledge both potential benefits and concerns. The discussion of confidence and communication is relevant, as is your suggestion that schools can address risks through guidance. However, the response only partly develops the question of whether students benefit from single-sex education. The opposing view is reduced mainly to concerns about sexual behaviour, while the benefits or limitations of educating students separately are not explained directly. The example about couples separating also shifts away from school outcomes and is not clearly supported. To strengthen the response, compare mixed and single-sex settings explicitly and develop each main point with a clear explanation or a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the point about communication moves quickly to couples separating, and the second body paragraph introduces a concern before offering only a brief response. Some linking is mechanical or inaccurate, including “Although” at the start of a sentence and “Therefore” before a conclusion that is not fully established. Clarify how each example supports its topic sentence, and use referencing and transitions that show the precise relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “co-education,” “confidence,” “communication skills,” “side effects” and “viable solution.” There are also efforts to use more formal expressions, such as “pivotal role” and “judicious solution.” However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate and sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow: “mannerable society,” “learn and compassionate each other,” “leads an individual to sexuality,” and “co-education should contemned.” Some words are also used in an unsuitable form, as in “built communication skills.” Aim for natural, precise combinations rather than choosing formal-sounding words without checking their meaning. The suggestions below offer clearer alternatives for key phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional example beginning “if government and educational department pays attention.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors recur in agreement, verb patterns, articles and sentence boundaries. For example, “other concur” needs a plural verb form, while “it can make students to much open minded” has an incorrect construction. The opening paragraph also contains a sentence fragment beginning “Although,” and the long sentence about couples combines several ideas without clear punctuation. These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas hard to interpret. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then check subject–verb agreement and verb forms.
