Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You introduce both school types and give relevant points: mixed schools may build teamwork and communication, while single-sex schools may reduce distraction and help girls feel comfortable speaking. However, the response only partially answers “to what extent” you agree: the conclusion repeats benefits but does not clearly state your own position or weigh them. The examples are brief and the claims are not sufficiently explained, so the discussion remains limited and under-developed. The response contains 199 words, so it is 51 words below the required minimum; the 8 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Use the extra space to state your position clearly and develop each reason with a specific explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “beyond this” and “To conclude” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression between ideas is not always clear: the introduction promises to discuss both views, but the essay does not establish a clear line of argument, and the conclusion largely repeats earlier points. Several sentences run together, while connectors such as “also” and “apart from this” are used mechanically. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, explain it, and then connect it explicitly to your overall position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “co-educational,” “single-sex schools,” “mutual understanding,” “concentration” and “participating in classroom discussions.” This gives the response enough basic language to communicate its main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning less clear: “more benefited,” “a moral value” and “different skills” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling and word-form errors, including “seperately,” “childrens” and “childres,” are also noticeable. Build a bank of accurate phrases for discussing educational outcomes, and check spelling and collocations when revising.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a relative clause in “A students who works on a team.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation occur frequently enough to make parts difficult to follow. For example, “They both the views has their own advantages” has incorrect word order and subject–verb agreement, while “studying in a co-educational schools they are working in a teamwork” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Capitalisation after full stops and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each sentence for agreement and punctuation.
