Student answer (Band 6.5)

Education is the lifelong process of learning and acquiring the knowledge skills. The statement questions whether the girls' and boys' benefit from being educated separately in single-sex schools. I do not completely agree with the statement because of various reasons.

The one important reason is that education is important to both every individual to shape critical thinking, unlock clear opportunities and have good financial stability. It cannot always be the education which gives financial stability it can be the knowledge or the capability of managing the work. For instance, cricketer they may not have good education qualification but today they earn more than a skilled and educated person like doctor or engineer.

however, education is important to every girl and boy in the nation for good knowledge and being independent of any other person. Having education in co-education school's students will come to know about the gender equality, build social confidence, removes fear of talking to opposite gender, builds respect by looking each other's equals, and have good emotional balance. For example, having good friendship with girls or boys will help them to know what the problems are and learn them by just having them by side. some can be academic distractions.

whereas it has the same level of disadvantages like they may get distracted in academics which can lead to have feeling for opposite gender which often detracts from studies, they even face insecurity or uncomfortable being around different sex, the risk of unethical behaviour like bulling, teasing may be the cause for safety. boys and girls can sometimes mature at different age so they may not get to know about everything at once it may not fit every child's unique behaviour.

In conclusion, getting educated in co-education can have on same level of balance like advantages and disadvantages because it is dependent upon the student perspectives and self-control over opposite sex, they can have good connections with them which actually helps out with their thinking power and emotional power.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the benefits and drawbacks of co-education. However, the position is somewhat inconsistent; while you state you do not completely agree with the idea of single-sex schools, the development of your arguments is uneven. The paragraph regarding cricketers and financial stability is largely irrelevant to the core topic of educational environments. Furthermore, the discussion of advantages and disadvantages is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. To improve, ensure that every paragraph directly supports your stance on the specific question asked, and avoid introducing tangential topics like professional sports earnings, which do not contribute to the central argument regarding school settings.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is occasionally disrupted by awkward transitions. For example, the shift from the importance of education to the example of cricketers is abrupt and lacks a clear link to the prompt. While you use some cohesive devices like 'however' and 'in conclusion', their usage is sometimes mechanical or imprecise. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between 'student perspectives' and the benefits of co-education is vague. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'co-educational', 'gender equality', and 'emotional balance'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'good education qualification' instead of 'academic qualifications' and 'thinking power' instead of 'critical thinking skills'. Some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'removes fear of talking to opposite gender'. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, you should aim to use more precise academic collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing to reach a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'like doctor or engineer'), incorrect pluralization (e.g., 'school's students'), and subject-verb agreement errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, such as article usage and plural forms, will significantly improve the quality of your writing.
