Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you present a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The essay is fragmented, particularly in the second paragraph, which ends abruptly and lacks coherence. To improve, you must expand on your points with detailed explanations and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the topic. The ideas presented are relevant, but they remain at a surface level, preventing a more sophisticated discussion of the benefits and drawbacks of single-sex versus co-educational schooling.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. Paragraphing is inconsistent, and the transition between ideas is often abrupt or missing. Cohesive devices are used sparingly and sometimes incorrectly, such as the awkward use of 'In regarding people' and 'While, learn the more skills'. The lack of a clear introduction and the incomplete nature of the second paragraph make the overall structure difficult to follow. To improve, focus on using linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'however') to connect sentences and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that supports your overall argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'thinking point of view alter' and 'full fill the resources'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly, and the phrasing often sounds unnatural. You rely on basic sentence structures and simple vocabulary, which restricts your ability to convey nuanced arguments. To improve, try to learn collocations (words that naturally go together) and expand your range of academic vocabulary related to education and social interaction.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement, sentence fragments, and incorrect word order. For example, 'Every people thinking point of view alter' is grammatically incorrect, and 'co- educational study are better' contains a subject-verb disagreement. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty or incomplete. Punctuation is also inconsistent, which occasionally impedes the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions.
