Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the major parts of the world male and female children are being educated together in mixed schools. A lot of people assume that being separated by an all girls or an all boys school is more beneficial for learning while. I very less agree with this and reasons why I strongly disagree in my opinion will be discussed as follows.

Some people would believe same sex educational system is better to possibly avert the high level of immorality and rape that is very rampant in schools today which is in fact a problem in the society as of today. For instance from the age of 13 in the western world girls and boys don't get so many questions if they decide to be in the relationship which can in turn lead to pregnancy and even dropping out of school.

In my opposition, allowing mixed schools keeps them aware of the opposite sex, and when been educated and giving awareness on how to relate with the other gender it would be a big deal or something to be so inquisitive about when the meets the opposite sex. Because it is a learning center they will be thought about the consequences of rape and abuse. An example; some teenagers build more valuable and beneficial friendships with the other gender as a result of this.

In conclusion, its no harm in continuing with mixed schools, with the right educational structure abou

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt but fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, ending abruptly at 239 words. While you clearly state your position, the development of ideas is limited. The argument regarding 'immorality and rape' is somewhat underdeveloped and lacks a logical connection to the educational setting. Furthermore, the conclusion is incomplete, which prevents a full development of your argument. To improve, ensure you fully explore your points with specific examples and complete your essay structure, ensuring you meet the minimum length requirements to allow for a comprehensive response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the phrase 'In my opposition' which does not clearly signal a transition to a counter-argument or a new point. The flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed, and the abrupt ending significantly impacts the overall coherence of the piece. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'a lot of people' and 'big deal'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'I very less agree', which is non-standard. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary and precise collocations. For example, instead of 'a lot of people assume', you could use 'a significant number of individuals contend'. Expanding your range of synonyms and using more formal academic register will help improve your score in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'when been educated and giving awareness' and 'they will be thought about the consequences', where the passive voice and verb forms are used incorrectly. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement. Reviewing the use of passive voice and ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically sound will help you achieve a higher band score.
