Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the topic but fails to take a clear position. The prompt asks to what extent you agree with the view that single-sex schools are beneficial, but the essay merely describes that different opinions exist without clearly stating your own perspective. The ideas are underdeveloped and repetitive, lacking specific examples or logical support. For instance, the mention of 'activates' and 'old ideas' is vague and does not contribute to a well-reasoned argument. To improve, you must clearly state your opinion in the introduction and provide distinct, well-supported arguments in the body paragraphs that directly address the benefits or drawbacks of single-sex education.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. While some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'However' are used, they are often placed incorrectly or used to connect sentences that lack clear meaning. The referencing is frequently unclear, such as in the phrase 'from that reasons also', which makes the text difficult to follow. The conclusion does not summarize the arguments effectively but rather repeats the vague notion that different people have different opinions. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph focuses on a single, clear main idea would significantly enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate, which hinders communication. There is significant repetition of basic words like 'school', 'girls', 'boys', and 'people'. Many phrases are unnatural or grammatically incorrect, such as 'very well benefits school' and 'oldest peoples'. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas about education systems. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to education (e.g., 'academic environment', 'social development', 'gender-segregated schooling') and avoid repeating the same basic nouns and verbs throughout the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede understanding. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some school have benefit'), word order, and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'begin educated' instead of 'being educated'). The sentence structures are mostly simple and repetitive, with very few attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that prepositions are used correctly. Practicing the use of relative clauses and subordinating conjunctions would help you move beyond simple, error-prone sentences.
